The Kindergarten Words
High Frequency Words
High frequency words are those words that are seen most often in books. Often these words (which are sometimes called 'sight words' or 'dolch words') are hard for children to learn. Lots of practice at home, really helps. We will study the following words in our classroom.

Once these are learned then there are some more to help with reading. Here are some

Here is another very good site for
Dolch Word Cards
at various levels. Print off two sets of the cards and play Concentration! It is best to only print off one set at a time. Learn set one first, then move onto set two, etc..
Another good list of Pre-Primer and Primer words for kindergarten can be found at Mrs. Perkin's web site. There are some great
word cards to print off.

is the next step in reading and writing. Print these little cards off as you learn the Dolch Word sets above. Cover the phrases with little markers while you read them. A full card of markers shows how well you are doing!! Cover them with m&m's then eat them off to celebrate!
